Start here
Set it up in three steps.
This is a little unusual, but it’s the only workaround I’ve found while the Chrome extension waits for Store approval. Sorry it’s more complicated than it should be—you only do it once.
Show the bookmarks bar
Press ⌘ Shift B on Mac or Ctrl Shift B on Windows.
Drag this button onto the bar
Open Google Finance and click it
Open Lists, leave Portfolios unfolded, then click the bookmark.
Open Google Finance ↗Drag the blue button to your bookmarks bar. You only do this once.
Dragging did not work? Use the copy setup
- Right-click an empty spot on the bookmarks bar and choose Add page.
- Name it Export Google Finance.
- Paste into the URL field, then choose Save.
Quick check: right-click the saved bookmark and choose Edit. Its address must begin with javascript:.
One limitation:this exporter reads the Google Finance layout that exists today. Google has been changing that layout frequently lately, so the bookmarklet or extension may stop working after an update. If that happens, please let us know—we’ll update it.

What comes out
A standard CSV you can take anywhere.
The export is not locked to Folivue. Open it in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, or import it into another portfolio tool that accepts these columns. Portfolio transactions include fractional shares and leave prices blank when a cost basis is unavailable.

VUSA,buy,2024-06-03,25,71.10,0Watchlists are simpler: one Symbol column, one security per row. The files work as ordinary CSVs too, so you can inspect them in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, or a text editor before importing.

The Store-installed version is coming soon.
The bookmarklet now covers the complete export, including Download all. The Folivue Portfolio Exporter adds a reviewed Chrome installation, source selection, progress handling, and more durable background tabs without requiring a bookmarklet.
It is not available to install yet.It has been submitted to the Chrome Web Store and is waiting for Google’s review. Once approved, this guide will link to the Store installation; the bookmarklet will remain available as the no-install option.
Answers before you start
Frequently asked questions.
Can Google Finance export a portfolio to CSV?
Google Finance does not currently provide a built-in CSV export for portfolio transactions. From the Lists overview, this Folivue bookmarklet discovers the unfolded portfolios, loads their Transactions pages inside your Google Finance session, and creates local CSV files.
Can it export a Google Finance watchlist?
Yes. Open the Google Finance page where the watchlist table is visible, click the bookmarklet, and choose Download CSV beside that watchlist. The file contains one Symbol column.
Does the bookmarklet send my portfolio to Folivue?
No. It reads watchlists from the open page and loads portfolio Transactions pages directly from Google Finance in your existing session. The CSV and ZIP are created locally; no extracted data is sent to Folivue or another service.
I clicked the bookmarklet and nothing happened. What should I do?
Chrome probably saved a normal page link instead of the bookmarklet address. Right-click the bookmark, choose Edit, and check that its address begins with javascript:. If it does not, delete it, return to this page, and use Copy for manual setup.
Why must the portfolio Transactions tab be open?
It no longer needs to be open when you start from Google Finance Lists. Keep the portfolio section unfolded so the bookmarklet can discover each portfolio; it then loads the Transactions pages in temporary background frames.
Can the bookmarklet export every portfolio at once?
Yes. Open Google Finance Lists with the portfolio section unfolded, click the bookmarklet, then choose Download all. It creates one ZIP containing a separate CSV for every detected portfolio and watchlist.
When will the Folivue Chrome extension be available?
The extension has been submitted to the Chrome Web Store and is waiting for review. Store review timing is controlled by Google, so Folivue does not promise a specific approval date.
